Altar servers

Altar server scheduling, all in one place

Mass schedules, sign-ups and assignments, notices and reminder emails, all on one screen. Coordinators spend less time on logistics, and parents see their children’s serving schedule on their phone.

The calendar: seats filled for each Mass and the servers on duty. All names are examples.

What changes

Group chats and one-by-one messages

Notices and reminders, handled for you

Post notices on the Altar servers tab. Reminder emails go out automatically at the time the coordinator sets.

Spreadsheet rosters

Sign-ups and assignments on one screen

Set a Mass rule once and the Masses are created. Open seats per position and sign-ups are visible at a glance.

Counting services at year end

A record that adds itself up

Attendance and services build up into a season summary with tier thresholds.

Started in a real parish

Built on what the 103 Saints Korean Catholic Center in Torrance already uses

HolyLink’s altar server feature is based on AltarLink, the scheduling system the altar servers of the 103 Saints Korean Catholic Center in Torrance have been using. The workflow refined in a working parish is now open to other churches.

How to start

  1. 1

    Apply as church admin

Become the admin of your church’s page. If your church already has one, skip to the next step.

  2. 2

    Turn on altar servers

Manage → Church tab → Altar servers: switch it on and appoint a coordinator.

  3. 3

    Invite parents

The coordinator invites parents by email, or approves the child registrations parents send.

Only the information a child really needs

  • For a child we keep only the name (Korean and English), baptismal name and grade. No birth date, no child contact details.
  • Server photos are used only when the church turns photos on.
  • Sign-up asks only for email, name, baptismal name and home parish. No phone numbers.

Questions

My church isn’t on HolyLink.

Send a church registration request first. Once it’s listed, you can apply as church admin.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Both the parent screens and the coordinator screens are made for phones.

What kinds of coordinator access are there?

Full access can change everything on the altar server screens. View only sees schedules, assignments, attendance and reports, for example for a liturgy committee. Church details, boards and member approval stay with the church admin.

Where is the detailed guide?

The altar server guide walks through every screen with examples.
