Help & FAQ
How to use altar servers, church admin tools and the business directory. Click a question to see the answer. Anything else: contact@holylink.org.
Getting started
How do I sign up?
- Click Sign up at the top right.
- Enter your name, email and a password. Baptismal name and home church are optional.
- Click the confirmation link in the email we send you.
You must be 18 or older. If the email doesn’t arrive, check your spam folder.
Can I sign in with Google?
Yes. Press Continue with Google on the sign-in or sign-up page. If you are new, your account is created right away and you only confirm you are 18 or older and agree once. If you already signed up with email, sign in with the Google account that uses the same email, or connect it in My account → Google sign-in. If you sign in with Google only and also want a password, create one with Forgot password.
I had an account on the old holylink.org. Can I still sign in?
Yes. Your account was moved to the new HolyLink. Sign in with the same email and password, or press Continue with Google if you joined with Google. The first time, we ask you once to confirm you are 18 or older and to agree. Your community posts are still here. If you forgot your password, use Forgot password.
What happens when I choose a home church?
A request to join that church’s board is sent automatically. Once a church admin approves it, you can read and post on the church board. You can change your home church any time in My account.
I am an altar-server parent. Why can I not use the church board?
Altar servers and the church board are separate.
- The Altar servers tab (serving, calendar, notices, unavailable days) works as soon as the altar-server manager links your child.
- The church board is for that church’s members, so it needs membership approval by the church admin.
When you are linked as a parent, a membership request is sent automatically, so you do not need to apply again. The board opens once the church admin approves it. If the board tab shows an application form (for example, you have not confirmed you are 18 or older), apply with that form.
How do I turn off notification emails?
Go to My account → Notification emails, or use the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of an email. Sign-up, password and admin-access emails can’t be turned off.
Altar servers — parents
Registering (children and adults), signing up, unavailable days, the calendar and emails are all in the altar server guide, with screen examples.
Altar servers — coordinators
Turning altar servers on, mass rules, assigning and attendance, approving requests and the season summary are all in the altar server guide, with screen examples.
Church admins
How do I become a church admin?
- Sign up, then go to Church admin request.
- Choose your church and enter your name, your role at the church and a note.
- HolyLink reviews it (we may check with the parish office) and emails you once approved. If the church already has an admin, that admin approves it.
Signing up with an email on the church’s own domain speeds this up. We don’t ask for phone numbers.
My church isn’t listed.
Email the church’s name and address to contact@holylink.org and we’ll add it.
Where is the manage page?
Sign in → My account → Manage next to your church. The menu on the left shows one group at a time.
What can I manage?
- Church info: basics and photos, Mass times, office hours, clergy, groups
- Notices · Events · Bulletins
- Members · Board: approve member requests, handle reported posts
- Altar servers: turn on or off, name coordinators
- Church admins: approve other admin requests
How do I approve members?
Manage page → Members · Board: approve or decline pending members. A number on the menu shows waiting requests. Only approved members can see the church board.
Altar-server parents are waiting for membership approval.
When an altar-server manager links a parent to a child, a membership request for that parent is sent automatically. Being linked as a parent does not open the church board; church admins decide who joins it. If they are members of your church, approve them in Manage page → Members · Board. Even without approval, the altar-server features keep working for them.
How do I add another admin, or step down?
Ask them to send a church admin request, then approve it under Church admins. You can remove access or step down there too. The last admin can’t step down, so add another admin first.
Business directory
Who can list a business?
Any member who has confirmed their email can list their own business. You can list up to 3 businesses per account.
How do I apply?
- Go to the Business directory → List your business.
- Enter the name, category, business phone, city and state, plus address, website, email, description, logo, photo and church if you like.
- Agree to make the details public and submit.
We review it, publish it and let you know by email.
How should I enter the address?
Put only the street number and name in Street address (e.g. 4025 Del Rey Ave), and the city, state and ZIP in their own fields, so the map pin lands in the right place. If you work from home, leave the street blank; the map will show only the city.
Can I edit or delete it later?
Yes. Use Edit on your business page or your list on the application page. Published listings stay published when you edit them. You can delete from the same place.
My listing was declined.
The reason is shown on your business page. Fix it and save, and we’ll review it again.
What are featured businesses?
They are shown large at the top of the directory and are chosen by the site administrators. Questions: contact@holylink.org
